If you practice or have heard of the numerous benefits of yoga, you might be intrigued to hear that yoga is simply the physical sister science to Ayurveda. 

Ayurveda, is a 4000 year old lifestyle philosophy which means the "Science Of Life." 

It is a wonderful comprehensive understanding of using food as medicine. 

Why do so many people have digestive issues?

Ayurveda has long standing belief that all disease and ailments stem from the gut.

Since then science has been catching up with ayurveda and proving that the health of our gut flora and our intestinal microbiome effect everything in our system including our mental and psychological health.

Yet what causes poor digestion and how can we start to transform that?

Ayurvedic Fod Combing is a rich study of what foods to eat together, which ones to avoid eating together and which foods need to be digested completely alone.

You see, your stomach produces acid and enzymes to break down food so that it can more easily be assimilated in your small intestine.

Some foods literally can not be broken down together, as the enzymes needed for one does not break down the other.

Also food have different digestion and disintegration rates. 

Example: If u leave a strawberry on the counter as well as a banana, would they both start breaking down at the same rate?

No, the strawberry would start forming mold and become inedible quite quickly.

The banana would last quite a bit longer and probably won't mold. It would just start browning more and more and turing more sugary the longer it sits out.

These food are compositionally different and need different digestive enzymes and digest at different speeds.
